Week 1A Blog - My Blog Theme

I chose a template/theme for my class blog that has a clean, somewhat business-like, feel to it. I have always preferred darker colors on my web pages and blogs when I use colors. Here are links to two of my other websites to show you what I have used in the past for themes and templates: Intrinsic Value Wealth Report and Paul M. Wendee & Associates, LLC. I do have a confession to make - I have not updated Paul M. Wendee & Associates, LLC in seven or eight years (because I rarely use that website). It is very out of date. I'm going to take the opportunity afforded by this class to update this website and clean up some other E-commerce and social media transgressions on all of my websites that I have been ignoring for far too long.

I do feel somewhat vindicated by Berkshire Hathaway's website though. For those of you who may not be familiar with Berkshire Hathaway, this is the company managed by famed investor Warren Buffett. Berkshire Hathaway was actually the result of a reverse merger of the Buffett Partnership, a private company, into Berkshire Hathaway, a failing textile manufacturer (which was publicly traded), in order to gain a public stock listing for the Buffett Partnership investors. The merger worked and made Warren Buffett and his original investors very wealthy. Here is the website: Berkshire Hathaway. Tell me what you think about it's design. Remember, this is the website for one of the world's richest and most successful investors and one of the world's most respected companies.

I also chose my class blog webstie theme as it is somewhat evocative of the song by the group America, "A Horse with No Name." I have always tried to maintain a "bucket list" of things to accomplish in my life. One of the things on my bucket list is to learn to play the guitar, which I am doing now (I've had three lessons so far). One of the songs I am learning to play, which is also one of my all time favorite songs, is "A Horse with No Name."

So there you have it...please tell me what you think.

Best,
Paul

  1. Paul,
You seem to really know what you are doing from managing your previous websites. This class will definitely benefit you. Also, I love the theme and reason you chose it. It's never too late to learn an instrument. Keep it up.

  2. Good choice paul! It seems very clean and business like. I checked out Berkshire Hathaway, it does not seem any better for its reputation, it's really plain. It would be nice to get lot of insights from experienced person's like you. Hope you can share many more interesting facts in this class. All the best with music lessons!

  3. Paul,

You and I chose the same blog template; cheers on the impeccable style and taste :D I think your blog post was my favorite to read because it was interesting, provided some interactivity by linking your websites and the berkshire/ hathaway site, and simultaneously told a cohesive, intriguing story. Congrats on an excellent post.
